Marjo Draws
Seeing with different eyes

Drawings and stories you can feel

Marjo van den Broek writes and illustrates the adventures of little owl Pluis. These are children's books about love, friendship, tenderness, humour, discovering the world together, resourcefulness, courage, and doing things together. Marjo has a visual impairment: every book is therefore a testament to willpower, passion and perseverance and, despite all this, still keeping an eye for the soft, loving sides of life. The visual impairment turns the outside world grey: the stories, the books paint the inside world in soft, optimistic and friendly colours.

Drawing is also wanting to mean something

Poor eyesight invites you to look inward

Despite her visual disability, Marjo holds on to her dreams, passion and creativity through willpower, perseverance, positivity and resilience, and with the help of visual aids, giving them shape and substance. Every page she draws, colours and describes is proof that the imaginative power of the inner world doesn't stop where the sight of the outer world diminishes or even stops altogether.

What every story is about
